Alfarófia Lake was built in April 1992 with the initial purpose of supplying water for irrigation, but in 2007 it officially opened for carp fishing after its enormous potential and the exceptional quality of its species were discovered. 

The project was founded by João Carlos Claudino, a highly respected figure in the fishing world known for his hospitality and warmth. From day one, he personally welcomed anglers, turning the lake into a true home for all who visit. After his passing, the legacy he left lives on through his three children – Maria, Fábio, and Abel – who now manage the lake with the same care and dedication. The team also includes fishing guide Rui, who supports anglers and contributes to an even more complete and professional experience. 

The lake features 6 VIP fishing spots, all equipped with excellent conditions, distributed around a beautiful body of water with a capacity of 100,000 m³. The average depth ranges between 3 and 4 meters, reaching a maximum of 6 meters, creating an ideal setting for fishing. 

The lake’s water is renewed almost year-round thanks to the irrigation system and the canal that feeds it, ensuring excellent quality, good oxygen levels, and a stable level in all seasons. Additionally, the presence of reeds helps filter the water, and crayfish along with other species maintain the natural balance of the ecosystem. 

Carp fishing officially began in January 2007, and since then, Alfarófia Lake has offered unforgettable catches. The largest recorded to date weighed 25 kg.
