The Lake´s history

On a property of 41 hectares (103 acres), it was constructed for the purpose of rice field irrigation. Its construction finished in April of 1992 and in July of that same year, it was restocked with 1.500 young royal carp and 1.000 young black-bass. After 15 years it began to be discovered by carp fishermen, local people fishing mainly for black bass.

Features of lake

The lake has a surface of 6 hectares (15 acres) with 100.000 m3. The average depth is 3-4m, with a greatest depth of 6m.

During the year, the water is constantly renewed.  Water leaves the lake to irrigate the fields and is replaced from an irrigation canal.  This creates excellent water quality which is well oxygenated, but at a constant level throughout the year.

The lake has a plentiful supply of crayfish and has 7000 m2 of reed beds, creating a natural habitat for the feeding and reproduction of the fish.

There are many predators creating natural control of the population of carp and other fish.

Carpfishing

Carp fishing began in January of 2007 and until now, the largest caught has been 52LB and smallest, 21LB.
